Since beating them with a stick isn’t an option, and telling them that their pay check should be motivation enough to come to work everyday, involve them. Have a round table discussion and let them come up with ideas for increasing business. If they become part of the solution, it becomes harder to complain about the problem. Remember, motivation can sometimes be as simple as recognition and/or acknowledgment.
